Sediment Filters with Replaceable Cartridges

There are many causes for "sediment" in water. Although most sediment (those particles which can settle out in a jar of water) is often described as looking like dirt or soil, that is usually not the case. Its important to properly identify the cause in order to choose the right filter or system. Often the best first step is to get an accurate water analysis. You can also fill out an online technical request form and one of our water technicians will assist you in trying to identify the cause of the problem and recommend a solution.

Some of the more common causes are:

  • Decaying piping and distribution systems

  • Decaying water heater liners and dip tubes

  • Decaying storage tank liners, pressure tanks, or pumping systems

  • Iron or manganese oxides (rust)

  • Black ferric sulfide after hydrogen sulfide odors

  • Sand, grit or particles from improperly flushed pipelines after repairs

  • Actual particles from ground water such as silt or sand from improperly run or constructed treatment plants

  • Particles, grit and sediment from malfunctioning treatment plants

  • Water softening resin or other filter media from failed home treatment systems
